Suwannee County Jail
Individuals who have been arrested and held without bond, been unable to post bail set by the courts, are being transferred from other states or counties while awaiting trial in Suwannee County, or those found guilty and sentenced to serve less than one year in county jail are confined in the Suwannee County Jail. The Sheriff operates the Suwannee County Jail, which has an authorized capacity of 235 inmates. The facility houses males, females, and juveniles who have been adjudicated as adults charged or sentenced on misdemeanor and felony crimes. The Suwannee County Jail has been accredited by the Florida Corrections Accreditation Commision since 2004. Felon RegistrationPer Florida State Statute 775.13, any person who has been convicted of a felony in this state, any other state, federal court, or of any foreign state or country shall register in person with the Suwannee County Sheriff’s Office within 48 hours after entering Suwannee County. (The statute defines “convicted” as “…a determination of guilt which is the result of a trial of the entry of appeal of guilty or nolo contendere, regardless of whether adjudication is withheld.”) Registrations are completed Monday thru Friday, 8:30 AM to 3:30 PM (excluding holidays) at the following location: Suwannee County Jail The registration process takes about 30 minutes to complete and involves completing pertinent information relating to the crime committed, fingerprinting, and photographing. Registrants need to bring photo identification. Inmate Work CrewThe Suwannee County Sheriff’s Office operates an inmate work crew who provide landscaping services to over thirty county buildings. VisitationThe Suwannee County Jail encourages visitation for the inmates incarcerated here. We firmly believe that ties to family and friends are extremely important. However, there are rules that we need to make you aware of so your visiting privileges are not denied, terminated or suspended. VISITATION SCHEDULE
ONLY ONE (1) VISITATION PERIOD ALLOWED PER VISITING DAY DO NOT BE LATE – IF YOU MISS THE SIGN IN PERIOD, YOU WILL NOT BE ALLOWED TO VISIT Visitor Sign-InVisitors must report to the jail lobby at the beginning of their visitation period and sign in with the visitation officer. Visitors must be here between the sign in times in order to visit. All visitors must be eighteen (18) years of age or older and present a picture identification every time they visit. No children will left unattended in the lobby, vehicles, etc. No personal property will be allowed in the visitation area other than car keys and picture ID. All purses, and other property must be left at home, or locked in your vehicle at your own risk. Do not attempt to leave personal property with the visitation officer, we will not accept it. No cell phones, food, drinks, or tobacco products are permitted in the visitation area. Scheduling a VisitYou must call 386-364-3418 on the day of the inmate’s visitation between 8:00 AM and 11:30 AM to schedule your visit. If the inmate you want to visit is a trustee with Saturday visitation hours, the appointment will only be made on the Friday before the visit between 8:00 AM and 11:30 AM. Visitor Dress CodeAll visitors must be dressed appropriately in order to visit an inmate. Inappropriate attire consists of short-shorts, mini-skirts, tube-tops, spaghetti straps, or any other revealing attire. Visitors not meeting the dress code will be denied visitation. Visitation Rules
Special VisitsInmates may request in writing and in advance a special one time visit with up to two people who have to travel seventy-five (75) miles or more to visit. These visitors do not have to be listed as one of the four approved visitors on the inmate’s visitation list. Visits of this nature are at the discretion of the Jail Administrator. Verification of the visitor’s home or record shall be determined prior to visitation. If approved, this will be a one time visit and will be annotated on the inmate’s visitation card by the visitation officer. Persons requesting visits of this nature must be approved in advance of the visit. Visitors “popping in” to visit without prior approval will be denied visitation. There will be no special visits on holidays. Commissary AccountsIf you would like to add money to an inmate’s commissary account, you can do so using the kiosk in the lobby of the jail or by going online to www.commissarydeposit.com. Money orders will no longer be accepted. The kiosk accepts cash, credit or debit cards. The website accepts credit or debit cards. Mailing Address All mail is subject to being screened prior to delivery to the inmate. Telephone CallsInmates can only make collect phone calls. Phone cards are not accepted. If your telephone provider does not accept collect calls, call Invision Telecom at 800-844-6591. All phone calls are recorded and are subject to screening. |

The care, custody and control of individuals arrested in Suwannee County by the Sheriff’s Office, Live Oak Police Department, and other state law enforcement agencies is the responsibility of the Suwannee County Jail staff.
